I don’t think Fred and Rudy are that far apart on the issue of gays. Both against gay marriage.

Oh, horsecrap. That's just as dishonest as the earlier Rudy booster claim that Duncan Hunter and Rudy had the same position on a PBA ban despite the fact that Rudy supported Clinton's veto of a PBA ban.

Rudy pushed for gay hate crimes laws and used to favor gay civil unions.

Fred opposes special treatment for gays and opposes gay civil unions. NO COMPARISON.

Admit it. Your guy is a social liberal. It would be better if you just admitted what is blindingly obvious so you don't feel compelled to drag down actual social conservatives to somehow try and make your guy look better.

Are you really that obtuse or are you deliberately disingenuous? Fred Thompson does not favor homosexual unions or marriage, Rudy wants homosexual unions that are identical to marriage.

I notice that you have still been unable to cite a SINGLE constitutional right that homosexuals are denied.

Homosexuals already have civil rights, NOBODY is trying to take those away, what they are asking for is "special" rights that nobody else enjoys.

Then why would Rudy wish to marry gay couples if gay marriage were legalized? He said that he would do so if gay marriage became legal. Is he really, REALLY against it?

When has Fred Thompson EVER spoken at their events? Helped them raise money? Or march in their parades?

"I don’t think Fred and Rudy are that far apart on the issue of gays. Both against gay marriage."

That is absurd and you know it. While Rudy says that marriage is between a man and a woman, we all know that he endorses civil unions between homosexual partners. Only now he has said he rejects the new law in New Hampshire, in another of his double-speak pandering moves. Rudy is so "all over the map" that you can find any quote to back up both sides of anything he has ever said.

OK, now that I've tried to defend you for using newsmax, let me see if I understand your position:

I don’t think Fred and Rudy are that far apart on the issue of gays

Fred Thompson says gay rights should be left up to the states. That's called a punt. :)

why can't Rudy evolve too??

Do you think Fred Thompson is going to be a hard-ass about gay rights?? He won't be. He works in Hollywood for crying out loud.

So you liked Rudy's position before, you like it now, you think he's the same as Fred, but you think's Fred position is a punt.

So, does that mean you like "punt" positions, or that you think Rudy has "punted" this, or you really don't think they have the same position?

Do you think Rudy should NOT be a "hard-ass" on gay rights issues? You say Fred won't be, and that Rudy has the same positions, so are you saying you LIKE fred's position, and if so why do you act like it's a negative?

Your argument here has been that Rudy is consistant but evolving, that you support his position regardless of what it is, that his position is the same as Fred's regardless of what Fred's really is, and that Fred's position is a negative one for a candidate.

In other words, we are still at "Vote for Rudy, no matter what his positions are, he's the only one who can beat hillary".

Hardly a reason to vote for someone, much less to defend his positions.
