Drug and dog fighting investigation at property owned by Michael Vick

SURRY --

Property in Surry County owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback and Newport News native Michael Vick was searched Wednesday as part of a State Police narcotics investigation -- and now there are allegations of dog fighting, too.

Vick does not live there in the two-story brick house on a couple of acres, but his nephew does, State Police spokesman D.S. Carr said. Vick is not a suspect in the drug investigation, Carr said.

After the State Police arrived at the Moonlight Road property, they called in Surry Animal Control. Dogs on the property appeared to be neglected, Surry County Administrator Tyrone Franklin said.

The Humane Society of the United States said the dogs appeared to have broken limbs, scarring and other injuries consistent with dogfighting, said John Goodwin, the society's deputy manager of animal fighting issues. The society's director was on scene Wednesday and found 60 to 70 pitbulls.

"We've been hearing for years about Michael Vick being involved in dogfighting," Goodwin said.

Surry County officials could not be reached to confirm the dogfighting allegations. Both the state police and Animal Control investigations are ongoing.

You would think that playing NFL football, and acting as the VELTRAX spokesman would keep Ron Mexico busy enough!

This is what happens when people of weak character suddenly acquire great wealth.

On the other hands, today thousands of pro sports figures were not arested, charged, or alleged to be involved in criminal activities!

This speaks volumes to the type of culture Vick comes out of, that finds dogs ripping each other apart entertainment and gets infected with Herpes and lies about it to women...

This is exactly why he is not a successful Quarterback, he lacks the intelligence and no matter how good an athlete he is he will never be as good as Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

Ping. This is a nasty one. I saw footage of Vick’s property. The home is a McMansion, with outbuildings/kennels of which most breeders can only dream. That said, he picked a state in which dogfighting is a felony.

The NFL better not look the other way on this. I hope the state nails him and the nephew, and locks their sorry butts up for decades.

All he's ever had is potential and name recognition. I gotta hand it to a guy who can get invited to the 2005 Pro Bowl when, out of 16 NFC quarterbacks:

- his quarterback rating was 13th
- his completion percentage was 14th
- he lost at home to an awful Green Bay team
- his team finished 8-6 and didn't make the playoffs

Enjoy the memories, Mikey. You'll never get another one. By the way, how's the herpes?

I would kill for kennels like that so I could foster abused animals. Heck, I would take that land and make a little spa for the poor dogs.

What a jerk. Here’s an update.
