Post #36. Harry the snake is more worried then he may appear. To many things starting to come together in Iraq for his liking. The demos are going to look like complete fools by the time this is all over. Notice the tones he and the fairy god mother are offering in the past week. Words, like the POTUS should dig deep in his heart. The POTUS should consider working together with the democrats, not be so tough etc..
They realize they walk on thin ice as the Iraqi situation will continue to improve, and there is not a thing they can do to stop it in the reality of things.
Once a threshold point is reached where this POTUS believes AQIR and the Saddamist can no longer alter the equation in Iraq with any effect, he just may asked his PR people to start to appear more cocky. Sort of like he did on the aircraft carrier. The mission was accomplished. We beat the Iraqi army and made it disperse, and Saddam was dethroned.
We won the war. Next step obviously in conjunction with convincing the Iraqi they need a much better balanced unity central government, is to reach the point where the SASO is declared a success.
That phase now appears obtainable in the near future (before 2009 comes along).
AQIR cannot sustained it's great losses for a year or more at this point. And with the constant overtures for more Baathist to be returned to the fold, only the hard core Saddamist and some really whacko Sunni Wahaabist type groups will continue to attempt disrupting progress.
And the Iraqi and US forces are not going to sit still and stop going after them.
