BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: All right, Rudy Giuliani. Let's go to the audio sound bites here. Rudy is turning up the heat, getting into some partisanship here, which is good, because there's a huge difference between Republicans and Democrats on the war. So say it! And Rudy did. He said, "We have to stay on offense. The Democrats want to put us back on defense." Yesterday in Manchester, New Hampshire, at the Rockingham County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day Dinner, a portion of Rudy's remarks.
the entire transcript from Rush's show
RUSH: Rudy Giuliani, setting himself apart from the field, at least with that appearance. Again, that was in Manchester, New Hampshire, at the Rockingham County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day Dinner. END TRANSCRIPT
In other words, Rudy is providing leadership, and we're hoping that other Republicans spine up and follow his lead? Yet we don't want him leading us, because he's the same as Hillary? Is anyone else getting dizzy?
You have mail!
Good solid observation - I had not thought of that.
You’re right - he is leading.
Put it this way: I predict, barring Fred getting into the race, that the first candidate to emphatically call for Harry Reid's resignation will win the nomination in a landslide!!
I basically agree regarding McCain. While he supports the WOT, his jabs at the President and his subordinates don't win any sympathy from me. IMO Don Rumsfield is a great American, and McCain stabbed him in the back. If I had to choose between Giuliani and McCain, that would have to be weighed in. It would be a hard choice for me.
Personally I don't want Republicans to treat Democrats in kind. Democrats play incendiary politics like pros, but it's one of the things I hate about them. The best approach IMO is to confront Democrats forcefully with reason and facts; not to use inflammatory rhetoric that serves only to obscure substantive debate.
Being the first to call for Reid's head won't win any votes. Let the Democrats show their true colors by putting folks like Reid in power. Shame them for it; call attention to it; fight them on every issue. But if they want to show the world how radical they are by lifting up men like him, let them. It can only help the Republicans.
Yeah right. Rush praised Arnie Schwarzy too back in 2003, and we all know how that turned out. Rudy is a great liberal, he would make a fine Democrat, but as a Republican, he sucks.
My memory is a little different in 2003.
I remember Rush saying “Arnold is NO conservative - mark my words folks - time will tell”.
I know he likes Arnold personally - but I have no issue with that.
He definitely did--he supported Bush agaisnt McCain.
In 2007 you seem to have lost your memory completely about the goals and objectives of Free Republic. This forum advances conservatism, promotes conservative candidates and defends the Constitution. That doesn't sound like Rudy Giuliani`s politics to me. We FReepers don't support liberal candidates for Prez period. Rudy is the furthest lefty candidate the GOP has ever had. He`s been splitting Republicans and severely damaging the GOP.
RudyBoostering is persona non grata on FR, or haven't you heard.
“that the first candidate to emphatically call for Harry Reid’s resignation will win the nomination in a landslide!!”
Great! Duncan Hunter wins in a landslide!
Mr Hunter thanks you for your support.
Wow - for minute there I thought you were a reasonable and perhaps even an intelligent person.
Oops.
Just another exclusionary member of the “conservative movement”
Our way or the highway huh?
You're on the wrong forum if you support the gun grabbing, gay loving, amnesty supporting abortionist, Rudy Giuliani. Simple as that.
Why do you come into threads that want to talk about Rudy?
Were you invited?
Any how dare you use Ronald Reagan’s name as association.
I am man who never attacked any Republican.
You really should not associate yourself with a such a man.
You’re not acting worthy of Reagan’s name or legacy.
Exclusionary? Is being against abortion, protecting gun rights, saving the sanctity of marriage between a men and a woman exclusionary? I believe those are core conservative principles.
No - they are not.
Telling me I cannot be inside FR because I want to support
Rudy is exclusionary.
What’s more - it’s childish.
The GOP is more mature than that.
For that matter - I am more mature than that.
Moreover, it's not enough (as Rudy says about the WoT) in a political sense to "play defense" and merely respond to charges, because then the public gets caught up in a game of, "well, if they are saying it, there must be some truth to it."
So I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that in fact you MUST play "gutter" politics, because when they hurl a charge and you attack back, in the minds of the public that negates the original charge as "they all do it."
Defense is not enough. A Republican must be on the attack, and aggressive, just to stay even and (one hopes) let the results then speak for themselves.
I really agree with you.
Our candidates need to kick it up.
The right question is. Why do you keep promoting the liberal Rudy Giulaini on conservative Free Republic?
Any of the "top five" can get an important edge by saying this. The lower tier has no chance, because they already are perceived as just "playing to the base."
Why are you talking to me?
If you don’t support Rudy - get out of the thread.
I’m not trying to convince you of anything or anyone.
Go support a candidate - don’t spend your own valuable time attacking one or me.
And relax - skippy - I will support THE GOP candidate.
Man oh man - cats like you are a little tightly wound.
