.
Please pray on this day, and every day, for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm's way around the world in defense of our liberty, and for the families awaiting their safe return.
I’m done.
Dale Earnhardt fans treated Jeff Gordon like the Democrats treated George Bush in 2000 and 2004.
We don’t much care for politics of any kind on the NASCAR threads. We strive to provide a wholesome family atmosphere to enjoy the race for what it is, nothing more!
Nor do we appreciate driver / fan bashing !!
I’m about to push the abuse button on your post.
And for any other thread disruptor's expect the same in the future.
So when does the Hendricks bashing get reported. Perhaps we should name the thread the...CAN’T WE ALL GET ALONG THREAD...
From now on!
If you folks can not co-exist on a forum, I can only imagine what you all would be like sitting next to each other at a race.
I am about ready to kabosh the race threads at FR if this is the best folks can do.
If you have issues with moves on the track or afterwards, post your own damn thread and let it rip or take your issues with other offline via mail.
If you can't separate a sport from his fans actions or comments and have to bash others here, than STAY the hell off of the thread.
It is a family affair and if ya don't like your "cousins" here or their favorite drivers on this thread and the endless stream of bonehead moves by drivers on the track or fans in the stands..
If you can not abide by those simple requests, just let me know and I will gladly take your name off the Ping List MUOY PRONTO.
Anyone have a problem with that? Let me know.
To the many of you who are not the target of that last post, Thanks for hanging with us thru thick and thin.
FoR those who think it might be aimed at them, I’ll leave it up to them to figure it out and act accordingly.
Thanks!
I’m in. ya got my support.
on your side
HUA
I’m with ya here. Most of the races everyone gets along good but there are always a few boneheads who diminish the experience of a live NASCAR race.
Nowhere on Earth can you go to a stadium where the spectators wear the colors of 45 or 50 teams, the home team is not the majority, and everyone sits together without disagreeing on something. Thats why NASCAR is the greatest sport in the World!
Anyone who don’t recognize that needs to go back to the stick and ball sports and drink their beer out of a cup.
I, for one, appreciate these NASCAR threads even though I don't post on them much. So I would hate to see them go away. The FR ranks are getting thin enough as it is these days.
A small number of the long-time regulars on these NASCAR threads know I'm a Jeff Gordon fan. However, I also like Junior a lot. He's a very decent human being, and that counts #1 with me. I think Junior already has too much on his shoulders having to live up to his father's memory and name. He doesn't need or deserve to be saddled with the behavior of some boorish, probably drunken sots who haven't got the sense God gave a gnat.
NO DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT SOME FANS DO. The fans, themselves, are responsible for their own actions. Similarly, of the 100,000+ in those stands, only a small minority threw stuff over the fence. As always, the media magnified the problem.
If you think the crap being thrown on the track on Sunday was directed only at Jeff, take a look a these photos:
Here you can clearly see the flag men were in harm's way.
And here you can see cans being thrown directly at the #8 car. That's right, Junior's car. He was pelted too as he drove up to congratulate Jeff.
Here you can see stuff being thrown at a lot of other cars behind Jeff. Most of the garbage seems to be coming from a relatively small section just to the right of the flag stand (if you're standing on the track facing the stands).
In my opinion, NASCAR officials, track officials and local authorities are the people responsible for putting an end to this stupidity. When Jeff Gordon's spotter, Shannon, had to have police protection when he left the spotter's stand to get to VL, that's serious stuff. But security did a good job overall.
According to the local paper, Talladega County Chief Sheriffs Deputy Jimmy Kilgore, about a dozen people were arrested in the grandstands for disorderly conduct for throwing beer cans on the track.
The track did a good job getting the message out, Kilgore said. But our biggest concerns is that a lot of race fans dont have arms like JaMarcus Russell or Peyton Manning. Its dangerous to the fans sitting below them, too.
Maybe the cops and track security didn't get all the airheads, but 12 is a good number to set an example.
SO I WANT TO REPEAT AS STRONGLY AS POSSIBLE...such trashy behavior is not the fault of ANY driver, nor can it be blamed on all of any driver's fans.
For you Jeff Gordon fans who may have come here pointing fingers at Junior fans, please take your cue from Jeff, himself. Paraphrasing, Jeff said that if they are throwing stuff at him, then he must have done something really good. :)
BTW, the driver I'm currently maddest at is Jimmie Johnson. How dare he block Jeff at Martinsville. ;-)
That top pic looks like a Bud, a Pepsi and something in a foam thingymabob..
I don’t know why folks want to waste perfectly good beer like that.
Many pay for the antics of a few.. Toss ‘em out for good.
The thread lives btw .. FoR now. Thanks! ;-)
I wonder when fans will accept Gordon for the GREAT driver he is, Dale Earnhart sure did. He’s never going to be a good ole’ boy but he was friends with their hero (Dale was my favorite driver too).
Watching Earnhart and Gordon race one another are my best memories of Nascar, 2 incredible drivers going head to head.
If anyone is worthy of scorn it’s Tony Stewart, he’s a rageaholic, never does anything wrong, even when he obviously intentionally wrecks someone. He flies off the handle and insults anyone who he even THINKS may have done him wrong, even when he’s dead wrong.
He has a tin foil hat under his helmet too, if he doesn’t win it’s a conspiracy, was it professional wrestling when he won the championship? Now the powers that be won’t let him win another?
This guy has great skills as a driver, but I’ve never seen such a dumbass in all my life, he keeps getting worse.
Earnhart used to take the air off someones car to get by them or the occasional crafty “nudge”, Stewart uses his car as a deadly weapon, he’ll only be suspended when he hurts or kills someone, he has no regard for anyone but himself out there.
Good, and you're welcome. I'm sad that someone managed to upset WCG so much. :(
This world is filled with human cretins of all kinds. Jeff has plenty of loyal fans, and I'm one of them. But I can appreciate other drivers, including Junior, whose decency and genuine kindness are most impressive to me.
As for Stewart, he's one of those cretins I was talking about. :)
Agree with both of you on pretty much all your points.
And I don’t dislike Smoke, but man...he really is getting out of control. Who knows what he’s going to try to do to the #38 in the next few weeks...
His crew deserves a lot of credit too.
I remember when they gave him tars with 52 to go, and I thought...that’s probably going to turn out to be a very good decision...and it was...he just went by all those guys with no gas or tars left.
I care more about what's inside a person than what they do in their careers.
