Federal raid triggers Chicago protest

CHICAGO, April 25 (UPI) -- Residents of a predominately Hispanic Chicago neighborhood took to the streets in protest after heavily armed U.S. immigration agents raided businesses.

"Soldiers bombarded our neighborhood," Baltazar Enriquez told the Chicago Sun-Times. "It looked like they were marching into Iraq."

Heavily armed federal officers in bullet-proof vests, locked down a strip mall Tuesday in a Southwest Side neighborhood known as Little Village, Enriquez said. The raid triggered a protest of 250 to 300 people that lasted into the evening, the newspaper said.

The federal agents were searching for sellers of fake Social Security and resident alien green cards, authorities said, refusing to say how many people were arrested in the search.

Those arrested were to appear in federal court Wednesday. Neighborhood activists said the raid may have been to intimidate people from participating in a downtown May 1 march and rally to protest recent federal raids nationwide, the Chicago Tribune said.

Any rioters here legally need to be stripped of citizenship/green cards and sent back to their home countries.

Good news....
Now , assign some agents to check illegals using fake ID
to board US carrier commercial flights to Hawaii
from the West coast.

I would imagine that is some kind of federal felony to use fake ID to board aircraft?
It’s not being enforced and illegals are flooding Hawaii too.

I wish it were so, but I have no doubt this is just public relations so Bush can claim he's doing something about the illegals when he announces his amnesty program.

Another problem, It's not even a drop in a bucket. We are arresting them by the handful, on rare occasion by the hundreds, while we have 20 million here illegally.

So you don’t think the federales should be conducting such raids because 1) Bush is just doing it for show and 2) it’s only a drop in the bucket? I personally don’t care what the reason is for the raids, as long as they are frequent and widespread. The people targeted in this raid were stealing Social Security numbers. Immigration laws aside, that is against the law.

How about if all the murderers, rapists, etc. would march in groups protesting enforcement of the laws they are breaking?

Would the MSM and Liberal loonies be on their side, too?

When we start accepting law-breaking as a way of life....I believe we can call it Aanarchy.

Its going to get a lot worse, because nobody is willing to kick some ass. There are too many bleeding hearts ,too much media, too many lawyers and too much liability. Multiculturalism has been a national castration.

So you don’t think the federales should be conducting such raids...

To the contrary, I believe we should step up these raids to a level that we are actually making headway in removing the millions of illegals.

I believe the current small time raids are just for show so Bush can claim he's doing something, when in fact he's working for open borders.

No doubt you are correct. One thing though, Americans are fed up with both major parties and will not accept the status quo. There is some real movement on this issue. A lot of activists went to the capital yesterday and decended on their representatives. They are feeling some heat now. Bush can try squirm out of this, but folks are hopping mad.

You’re right: like concealed carry, it only takes a small percentage of employers and illegals to be affected before the fear factor weighs heavily against employing illegals or staying.
