The Rudy Giuliani Truth File in his own words and deeds

Posted on 04/25/2007 3:41:28 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

The Rudy Giuliani Truth File in his own words and deeds - quotes, speeches, transcripts, clips, reports

This is the start of a series of threads that will be used to expose the truth about Rudy Giuliani in his own words and deeds.

Please post all of the quotes, speeches, interview transcripts, video clips, photos, newspaper/magazine articles, reports, records, statistics, NYC budgets, NYC spending, political appointments, gun grabs, connections to the gun control lobby, lawsuits against gun manufacturers, the truth about crime reduction in NYC, private property grabs, asset forfeitures, abuses of office, individual rights trampling, constitution trampling, violations of public trust, violations of the rule of law, national security risks, failures in security preparedness prior to and after 911, corruption, graft, bribes, favors, union dealings, mob dealings, business dealings leveraged through government contracts and contacts, rainmaking for his business partners, connections to US, Middle East or South American oil and energy companies and law firms that have profited and or will profit from Giuliani's government offices especially if he becomes president, war profiteering, his personal and business finances, his train wreck of a private life and lack of character, lack of qualifications for high office, illegal alien sanctuaries, welfare for illegals, pandering to illegals/illegal alien lobby, support for the abortion and gay rights lobbies, NARAL connections and participation, past and current support for McCain-Feingold, connections and dealings with liberal officeholders or the liberal/socialist caucuses/lobbies, etc, etc, etc, that you can find.

We're primarily interested in the words from his own mouth or primary source records and reports of his deeds/misdeeds. All submissions must contain true facts with documentation and links to source documentation and a link to FR thread on the individual item if available.

We do not need to embellish the record. The ugly truth from his own liberal mouth will impeach his credibility and the reader will be able to disqualify the man from consideration for high office based solely on his own words and deeds.

Here's an example entry:

Rudy on gun control: "You've got to REGULATE consistent with the Second Amendment"

FOX News | Feb 6, 2007 | Hanity and Colmes

http://www.freerepublic.com/^http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,250497,00.html

HANNITY: Let me move on. And the issue of guns has come up a lot. When people talk about Mayor Giuliani, New York City had some of the toughest gun laws in the entire country. Do you support the right of people to carry handguns?

GIULIANI: I understand the Second Amendment. I support it. People have the right to bear arms. When I was mayor of New York, I took over at a very, very difficult time. We were averaging about 2,000 murders a year, 10,000...

HANNITY: You inherited those laws, the gun laws in New York?

GIULIANI: Yes, and I used them. I used them to help bring down homicide. We reduced homicide, I think, by 65-70 percent. And some of it was by taking guns out of the streets of New York City.

So if you're talking about a city like New York, a densely populated area like New York, I think it's appropriate. You might have different laws other places, and maybe a lot of this gets resolved based on different states, different communities making decisions. After all, we do have a federal system of government in which you have the ability to accomplish that.

HANNITY: So you would support the state's rights to choose on specific gun laws?

GIULIANI: Yes, I mean, a place like New York that is densely populated, or maybe a place that is experiencing a serious crime problem, like a few cities are now, kind of coming back, thank goodness not New York, but some other cities, maybe you have one solution there and in another place, more rural, more suburban, other issues, you have a different set of rules.

HANNITY: But generally speaking, do you think it's acceptable if citizens have the right to carry a handgun?

GIULIANI: It's not only -- I mean, it's part of the Constitution. People have the right to bear arms. Then the restrictions of it have to be reasonable and sensible. You can't just remove that right. You've got to regulate, consistent with the Second Amendment.

HANNITY: How do you feel about the Brady bill and assault ban?

GIULIANI: I was in favor of that as part of the crime bill. I was in favor of it because I thought that it was necessary both to get the crime bill passed and also necessary with the 2,000 murders or so that we were looking at, 1,800, 1,900, to 2,000 murders, that I could use that in a tactical way to reduce crime. And I did.

It might be time for the Reoublican party to go to war with itself.

Well, Reagan showed the Rockefeller Republicans how to win.

They apparently no longer wish to adhere to Reagan's formula and would rather lose on their own terms than win on Reagan's.

Yet the ones pointing out that folly are the "unappeasables."

“So the purpose of threads like this is what, then?”

To expose liberals.

Maybe Fred Thompson will emerge as “Reagan-like”.

I think he might.

I will agree with you in this way.

We do need a candidate that everyone in the party can support.

I agree with that.

If that candidate does not emerge - I suspect the party will turn on itself.

If it does - I hope we come out the back end - better for it.

Risky times right now - risky times.

It’s a process - kind of ugly - but it’s a process.

So the purpose of threads like this is what, then? Why, to flush out dissenters. Naturally.

As for me, I am gaining knowledge regarding Rudy G., so when I go the my caucus I will know enough to argue with the Rudy sympathizers, and hopefully he will not receive the Republican nomination.

Don’t misunderstand me:

I am no fan of Rudy’s. I am liking what Fred Thompson has to say, but he seems like he’s waiting too late to jump in.

However, IF (heaven forfend) the choice is Rudy vs. Hillary, I will think very hard about voting for the person with the (R). I may even end up doing so. But who can say this far out from the election?

As a side note, I attended a local GOP event recently. There were not too many Rudy fans present, just from talking to a bunch of people.

Later,
CD

By all means. If your humor is that twisted, by chance have you ever seen the animated alien version of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive"?

THAT is absolutely hysterical.

Now I really must run. Don't forget your hazmat suit if you venture into certain threads today, LOL

Do we want to follow their lead - and be guided by the far-right?

What’s usually referred to as the far right is actually the center. There are very few right wingers in the GOP.

The Rockefeller Republicans don’t care about winning because they are happy with the Democrats.

You might be right.

I consider myself to be a centrist in the party.

- NRA member since 1991
- Only voted non-R for POTUS once (Perot) - My bad.
- Very much a fiscal conservative
- I am pro-life (but I understand a woman’s right to choose) - so I am left in tough position
- I am also not socially conservative on many other issues
(live and let live call it)

Many of the social views I see expressed inside FR are very very far to the right to me.

And that’s fine.

The "overwhelming story of Bernie Kerik" is a "wonderful story of success, and it's one that New Yorkers can be very very proud of because he's one of us."

--Rudy Giuliani, who recommended Kerik to the White House, commenting on Kerik's nomination to head Homeland Security [New York Post, Dec 4, 2004]

"I am heartbroken, for Bernie, for the President. . . . He was about as qualified as you can be for this job. This doesn't take away from Bernie's heroism, this doesn't take away from his decency."

<blockquote>--Rudy Giuliani commenting on Kerik's withdrawal from nomination to head Homeland Security, [New York Daily News, Dec 12, 2004]

"Well, I think that's something I'll explore, you know, privately with Bernie," Giuliani said.

--Rudy Giuliani indicating he would talk to Kerik about his best man and brother working for an allegedly mob-connected company[New York Daily News, Dec 13, 2004]

Bernie Kerik was (and is) a great man.

He made some poor choices - yes - but to characterize him as you are attempting to do?

Is wrong.

We are the choices that we make. Maybe we make the choices we do because of what we are. Either way Kerik is a lowlife scum.

"But who can say this far out from the election?"

Usually, it is the MSM telling the sheeple whom they should expect will be the next nominee.

As a countermeasure, I plan to attend my local caucus and argue the facts with whoever is trying to nominate a liberal.

For stealing the use of an apartment intended for the use of 911 workers so he could bed his slut?

Well, best of luck, but I daresay that the average voter has never and will never attend a local caucus.

It's a pity. Most people will listen to the media, I'm afraid.
