Opponents of Texas Gov. Rick Perrys proposed Trans-Texas Corridor say they can count on the votes to override if Perry vetoes a bill that would delay such projects.
The Texas House and Senate didnt just support a two-year moratorium on public-private partnerships like the Corridor they did so overwhelmingly.
In the Senate, the vote was unanimous to approve legislation to stall privatization deals. In the House, it was 137 to 2 on a similar bill.
If one of the bills ultimately becomes law, the state would use the two years to study the feasibility of privatization, including the massive Trans-Texas Corridor plan, which calls for 4,000 miles of highway and rail corridors to be financed, built and operated by private investors.
Late-Night Trans-Texas Corridor PING!
I was so upset, I called my congressman, Ted Poe. I was disappointed that one of his aides was so nonchalant about it. I finished with, "So, I could set up some consultant company associated with the corridor, go to a congressman and ask for $2 million and get it?" He told me to give it a try! grrrr... (I don't think Ted would approve of this guy's attitude!)
good for you!
that’s what it’s been about since the beginning:
the corruption and manipulation of the perry bunch.
Good for Texas Senate and House!!
How do we recall the Republican Breck Girl again?
Thanks for the ping!
I might have told you the same thing. Can you even conceive of how many business there are on the I35? Not thousands but hundreds of thousands.
If Ted Poe's people appeared nonchalant, I am sure it was because your complaint was one of hundreds.
By the way, Ted Poe is my congressman also and I like him as I am sure you do.
You’re welcome. :-)
Poor Rick Perry. That pesky legislature is really getting in the way of taking peoples’ private property for a toll road and mandating vaccines paid for by Mereck.
Good thing there is a check on that Perry character.

I think you are seeing the reasons why they want foreign governments and corps. to run OUR ports, Super highway up from Mexico foreign trucks & drivers.
Americans would stop delivering & unloading ships. To protest this.
This is not only Clintons fault but also the Bushs fault.
Im exasperated up with the lot.
BTTT
Some on this forum who have referred to the anti-toll, anti-TTC crowd as wackos and loons, have some real soul-searching to do.
I realize there are problems with transportation and many more problems with the way the state allocates money. Selling/leasing Texas property to foreign entities is NOT the answer.
On the other hand, S 1929, the comprehensive bill produced by negotiations between Krusee, Carona, and Williamson, has been introduced and is in Committee.
On the third hand, there is still no tax increase/tax indexing bill.
Early in this session there were some who predicted the legislature would have a special session to deal with roads.
“How do we recall the Republican Breck Girl again?”
I have looked in to that and I don’t think it is possible.
Anybody have any idea if recall is possible?
~~~~~~
Thanks for the ping!
Apparently, the folks we sent to Austin to represent us have finally started listening to all Texans -- not just the shouters in the big cities.
There's no way GovRick can make a veto "stick" against such opposition! (I wonder if he'll be politically stupid enough to even try...)
~~~~~~
Looks like this...

...Is finally going to happen!
If so, I don't expect RINORick and RicW to survive the pounding their TTC scam is going to take for the next couple of years.
It's about time!!!
bump.
