MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Head of the Russian General Staff Gen. Yury Baluyevsky has reiterated that the U.S. missile defense system is aimed at countering the Russian and Chinese nuclear potentials.
"The real goal [of the U.S. in deploying a missile defense system], and it remains true today, is to create a shield to counter the Russian and Chinese nuclear potentials and to guarantee its invulnerability," the general told a press conference on Tuesday.
"I don't care who says otherwise, but I, as a military man and the head of the General Staff, still consider this as the real goal," he said.
This guy seems to think he's making a sinister accusation of some sort. His entire "charge" is that our missile DEFENSE is "aimed at countering" Russia and China.
Um. And what's his objection to that? We shouldn't try to counter incoming missiles from Russia or China?
"aimed at countering" indeed. This guy must think his audience consists of idiots. Sadly, he's not too far off there.
Click the link and in “other news” there’s tons of stuff that sounds like the Cold War never ended. Looks like Russian is going full speed ahead in portraying US as “enemy.” Get over it Russia, we have more grave concerns than the Kremlin at this point, though you guys could really throw a wrench in things if you so choose.
Bolshoi! The Russian mirv’d nuclear arsenal would overwhelm the present Missile Defense Shield. This is geared more for those rogue nations/organiztions/islamonuts for whom mutually assured destruction has little import.
Yeah, really! Pootie has what, 12,000 missiles pointed at us? He and his KGB buddies are running headlong back towards Stalinist totalitarianism and they think we shouldn't have a missile shield? Sounds to me like they know it will work, thus their missiles will, for the most part, be a useless investment.
