THe FDA is not releasing which customers Wilbur-Ellis Co. sold the contaminated rice protien to. Now it looks like a big rush by state agencies to check the human food supply.

A Caififornia hog farm has already been quarantined and others are likely to follow.

This is just a big cheating scam by China to cheat the customers by puting other substances on feed that appear to be protien but, in fact, are not.

Slaughter the hogs, and sell the meat back to the Chinese.

Why not release the INFO to PROTECT the PUBLIC?

Or is the FDA more interested in self-power, control, etc.
rather than public safety.

THERE SHOULD BE BLAST-TEXT OF THIS INFORMATION TO PROTECT PEOPLE.

FDA’s Update on Tainted Pet Food

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating an imported shipment of rice protein concentrate which has been found to contain melamine. The rice protein concentrate may have been used as an ingredient in some pet foods. FDA’s investigation of the rice protein is being carried out by specialists in FDA headquarters and in eight FDA district offices. Thus far, the following has been established:

The suspect shipment of rice protein concentrate was imported and offloaded during the week of April 2, 2007 by Wilbur-Ellis, an importer and distributor of agricultural products, including rice protein concentrate, with headquarters in San Francisco, CA. The source of the product is identified as Binzhou Futian Biological Technology in China.
The shipment consisted primarily of rice protein concentrate in white bags, but also included one pink bag that was labeled, in part, with the word “melamine.”
On April 15, Wilbur-Ellis notified FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine about the suspect shipment. On April 16, FDA launched a nationwide investigation tracing eight import entries identified as being shipped from the Chinese firm since July 2006. FDA testing revealed melamine in both the white and pink bags.
Wilbur-Ellis has initiated a recall of all suspect rice protein concentrate it had imported and distributed; see http://www.fda.gov/oc/po/firmrecalls/wilburellis04_07.html.
As a result of notification by Wilbur-Ellis, Royal Canin USA and C.J. Foods voluntarily recalled certain products; see http://www.fda.gov/oc/po/firmrecalls/royalcanin04_07.html and http://www.fda.gov/oc/po/firmrecalls/bluebuffalo04_07.html.

THey didn't really mean to, did they?

I may be sporting my tinfoil chapeau at the moment, but the easiest way to throw a country into chaos is to mess with the food supply.

This is just a test, folks.

The Chinese are not our friends.

From the FDA article,

“The shipment consisted primarily of rice protein concentrate in white bags, but also included one pink bag that was labeled, in part, with the word “melamine.”

Notice how a bag marked “melamine” was included with the rice protein shipment?

Clearly a smoking gun that the Chinese are adding it in their food processing facilities. No way this chemical should be in the “food” plant.

Clearly a -criminal- matter at his point. Stop all Chinese food imports until full inspections can be made, both here and in China.

That should take the FDA ten years or so! ;-D

North Carolina Department of Agriculture officials said that none of the hogs that ate the tainted food have entered the food chain for human consumption....

We will probably never find out for sure if this stuff has entered the food supply directly. Don’t want to panic the people and all. If it has, the best we will get is rumors and noticing that a local hospital is treating an unusually large group of kidney patients, or realizing that several people that one knows are having kidney problems. In the meantime China is refusing to allow American inspectors into Chinese food plants and we are responding with more diplomacy. The first awareness of the problem should have got food and food product imports from China shut off with unloading freighters sequestered in the ports.

and we think our greatest danger is Arabs blowing themselves up. Hell we’d buy our own suicide pill from China if someone could make a profit on it.

Red China is a disgusting totalitarian state, and we should engage in no more trade with them.

Let them rot in their own poisoned system. We certainly don't need any more food items from Red China, no matter how inexpensively they are priced.

North Carolina investigators are attempting to determine whether the melamine was absorbed into the meat of the pigs and whether it would eventually be safe to eat.

Hmm, lets see, enough was absorbed to kill the hogs so DUH! Coming soon to a homecooked meal near you.
