That's not what I meant. I just think that if we had a viable conservative candidate we could all rally around, he would get the nomination. The problem is, none of Rudy's competitors are ginning up any excitement. We need a new conservative face - someone who can excite the young generation of voters. These recycled GOP candidates (McCain, Gingrich) just aren't going to do it. I may agree with Duncan on just about everything, but he is sorely lacking in charisma.
Someone will get the nomination. I will go out on a limb and guarantee that. This is the pre-primaries period of the process. By about ten months. Now is the time to voice who you would prefer to be the candidate. Once the candidate is selected, 18 months from now, and he turns out to be a stomach turning liberal, then it would make sense to lobby for him under the "at least he's not a Dem" banner. Now it just shows that you either have no faith in conservatism or don't like it.
