That may be true, but none of the other candidates even come close to having the numbers needed to win the Presidency in '08. I don't think people are supporting Rudy because they are liberal, they are supporting him because they feel they don't have much choice. Some Republican contenders are polling in single digits. Unless we come up with a dynamic, electable conservative, it's not looking good for us.
So your logic is “you expect conservatives to vote for Rudy Toot if he is the only choice between a Pubbie and a Dem but you don’t think conservatives will vote for a conservative candidate if he’s the only choice between a Pubbie and a Dem?”
There's a technical term in political science for the sort of person who puts any stock in polls taken 9 months out from a primary. They're called "gullible."
