Welcome to Sanity Island, where only adults are allowed.

President Bush had a busy day today.

He met with General Petraeus in the Oval Office to discuss the War in Iraq.

President George W. Bush delivers a statement on the War in Iraq during a visit Monday, April 23, 2007, by Gen. David Petraeus, Commander of the Multinational Force-Iraq, to the White House. Said the President, "I will strongly reject an artificial timetable withdrawal and/or Washington politicians trying to tell those who wear the uniform how to do their job." With them is Gen. Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, left, and Gordon England, Deputy Secretary of Defense. White House photo by Eric Draper

He welcomed President Garcia of Peru to the White House.

President George W. Bush and President Alan Garcia of Peru share a light moment as they shake hands during a visit Monday, April 23, 2007, in the Oval Office. In the United States to promote free trade between the countries, the Peruvian leader said, "It is important to show the world that a democracy, with investment, leads to development." He later participated in a Meeting on Medicare Part D in the Roosevelt Room.

President George W. Bush addresses the press during a meeting about medicare in the Roosevelt Room April 23, 2007. "It took a monumental effort by a lot of citizens around the country to make the options that our seniors were given easy to understand," said President Bush. "In other words, we reformed Medicare and gave seniors a lot of choices, and it took a lot of loving Americans a lot of time to make these choices available for our senior citizens. Now that the plan is in place, 39 million have signed up for it, drug costs are less than anticipated, and the cost to the taxpayer is about $200 billion less than anticipated." President Bush offered his condolences to the Yeltsin family and Russian people over the passing of Boris Yeltsin.

Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin. President Yeltsin was an historic figure who served his country during a time of momentous change. He played a key role as the Soviet Union dissolved, helped lay the foundations of freedom in Russia, and became the first democratically elected leader in that country's history. I appreciate the efforts that President Yeltsin made to build a strong relationship between Russia and the United States. We offer our sincerest condolences to the Yeltsin family and to the Russian people.

Prs. Bush and the coach of Indianapolis have a LOT in common...they are both good, Christian, God-praising men.

....Bush was pretty funny....

^^^^

He can warm the heart of anyone he meets, except dems in the Congress, and reporters of the DBM.

I find that some are crisp and some are “checkered” like the pixels are expanded.

Great Dose, Onyx. Thank you for your work! Loved reading the text of the remarks to the Colts! Thank you for linking to it.

I am so glad for Tony Dungy to have won the Super Bowl! My dh and Tony's sister were in the same medical school class. Their parents raised children of whom they could be proud.

Thanks again!

When did the "look" of the WH website change?

I have been busy on other fronts and just kinda freaked out since my daughter and I only just watched Barney's Christmas video not too long ago. (Or os it felt...)

President Bush had a busy day today.

When does he not?

I don't know why I'm thinking about it right at this moment, maybe because I gave myself the luxury of goofing off most of today, but when does our President NOT have a busy day?

If he's sincere, takes his office seriously, and fully understands the reponsibility he carries for 300 million Americans, as I believe this President does, when is it EVER not a 24/7/365 job?

And for much of that time, he's in the public eye, with reporters and photographers watching his every move.

I don't think any of us can really understand what doing that for four years is like, much less eight.

You have to be seriously nuts or divinely inspired to want it, much less accomplish it.

Just thinking about it makes me question the sanity of all the current candidates.

President Bush is definitely in the 'Divinely inspired' category.

And it is only through God's power that he makes it through each day.

But I agree........I don't know how, or why anyone wants his job.

POLLS . . .

THE NEW FOXNEWS AND RASMUSSEN POLLS PUT THE PRESIDENT’S SUPPORT AMONG REPUBLICANS AT APPROXIMATELY 80% . . . Ignore the MSM and rightwing/FR pundits who keep trying to convince the weakminded among us that the President has lost the support of his base — LIES, LIES and MORE LIES!

FOXNEWS/OPINION DYNAMICS
[Finally, Opinion Dynamics uses a sample that more accurately reflects the current Republican:Democrat:Independent composition of the American populace (Democrats +6 vs the usual +8 to +12) . . . Amazing what a more REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE will do for a President’s JA rating!]

4/17-18/07 38% approve 54% disapprove
3/27-28/07 33% approve 61% disapprove
[JA rating UP by 12 points; 79% of Republicans approve of the President’s job performance; and more respondents approve of the President than the Congress 38% vs 35%]
http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/041907_poll.pdf
-
RASMUSSEN
41% approval rating
[approximately 80% among Republicans — this stat was noted by Rasmussen yesterday.]

Ohio:

What really scares me the most about what you said was that if we don’t stand behind this great President and support him, we will end up with crooks/criminals as the majority in Washington and then the terrorists can come after all of us. I worry about this all the time. Who would want that job with all the negatively being thrown at 24/7/365? This country has to be careful where it’s going. We already have approximately 50% of the population that doesn’t vote for whatever reason. If us decent people do not stand up and be heard; this country will be in trouble. There is so much hatred in the media and the extreme wing of the Democratic party that I think that they are willing to ruin this country just for the power.

The article about Mr. Thomas presenting President Bush with a Purple Heart is truly a touching article. I have to agree with Mr. Thomas 100% - This President does deserve a medal. He has never wavered under pressure when it comes to the war on terror and supporting our troops.

“I want everyone to know how much I cherish my dear friends on this thread.” ‘...I thank the Lord that He has given us this President and ...has brought us all together..’

Ohio, thank you for your kind words but also for expressing, so very well, exactly how I (and I suspect most others) feel about you and most others on this wonderful thread. The pictures of President Bush and the support given him on the Dose definitely helps to drown out the nastiness of the lib media and treacherous Democrats.
