I think a lot of his support to this point has been born of hopefulness on the part of Republicans desperate for someone with some signs of a backbone. He is going to have a really hard time getting support of conservatives if someone comes along who toes a different line on gun control, abortion, etc.

That, plus the fact that he's "America's Mayor". People say that Mr. Guiliani was tough and would dish it back to the LameStream Media of New York and, given our missing-vertebrae crop of RepubliCAN'TS, he sounds like a breath of fresh air.
Doesn't mean I'm going to vote for him, though.
