Wow! 26 to 22 and Fred Thompson hasn’t even given the go-ahead yet! And many Evangelicals still don’t know about Rudy’s positions on abortion, gun control, homosexual agenda or illegal border invaders! Looking very good for Fred Thompson in the upcoming months.
How many senators have made it to the top job?
I find it interesting that Romney and others just fall off the radar - assuming Fred vs. Rudy.
I would like to see Fred vs. Rudy myself.
I think it would be a great battle - and the winner would be incredibly strong for the general election.
The GOP is putting forward some real solid players.
I like it.
How many senators have made it to the top job?
Given that virtually all the candidates in both parties are Senators or less this time around, I’d say a Senator has a pretty good chance.
How many big city mayors have made it to the top?
Compared to Fred, Rudy’s the turd in the punch bowl.
Valid question
Fred is timing this thing well, his internal polling must be telling him good things...
How many mayors?
Given the fact Thompson doesn’t have the name recognition Rudy does - just my opinion - and the fact Thompson hasn’t stated catagorically he’s running...this is bad news for Rudy Guiliani.
Caught Rudy for a few minutes on the Imus replacement on MSNBC this morning. Damn shame I just don’t trust him on social issues.
“Anybody who suggests that Rudy is going to be able to skate by his support of abortion on demand, support of gay rights, support of gun control just doesn’t understand Republican primary politics,” said GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio. “Those are some very, very substantial hurdles.”
No way can Rooty win, none!
Buchanan said, “I just don’t think Rudy can do it. I may be wrong, but I’m not usually.” He added, “I’m telling you, as Giuliani — if he should get somehow the nomination, as he marches to the podium, the Republican Party explodes right in the convention hall. The Republican base cannot go along with Rudy Giuliani, his views on social and cultural and moral issue, the background, the record. The party would explode, Joe. It would come apart. You would have a third party candidate, and that would kill Rudy in the South.” [”Scarborough Country,” MSNBC, 11/14/06]
How many mayor’s?
I predict if Thompson gets in the race, we will see a different side of Rudy. A not so good one.
“How many senators have made it to the top job?”
That’s pretty weak assertion considering Hillary, Obama and Edwards are all Senators, McCain is a Senator and Giulani was a mayor (not a governor). Are you saying Romney is the only candidate in the race?
Well, you know the old saying....cream rises to the top, which is why Fred continues to shoot up in the polls.
It's time to face some facts. Rudy was only on top for as long as he has been because of lack of a viable alternative. The McRomney part of "Rudy McRomney" wasn't much better and didn't excite anybody, and let's face it, candidates like Hunter and Tancredo, however much we may like and respect them, just aren't going to go anywhere, period. Thompson is stepping in to fill a big void.
“I predict if Thompson gets in the race, we will see a different side of Rudy. A not so good one.”
Sigh...
Yep. And we’ll hang on every word anyway....
I'll second that!
Are there really honest, conservative Republicans who would favor Rudy over Fred Thompson? I can’t believe there’s a doubt in anyone’s mind who would come closer to representing the things we consider important to the conservative cause.
Rudy would be OK if Thompson’s not in the race, but in my book that’s the only way he should be considered for the nomination. And he’s behind others as far as I’m concerned.
When Fred gets in (and I believe he will) - it’s probably going to boil down to a mainly 2 man race with Thompson & Guiliani & Romney in it for awhile.
Guiliani will get clobbered.
I can’t wait.
