Robert Bennett is a very good, well-connected lawyer. Hiring him was a smart move on the part of Wolfowitz - - like George W. Bush hiring Barry Richard in the election trials of 2000, and Marc Rich hiring Lewis "Scooter" Libby.
``I've handled hundreds of conflict of interest cases, and this is a `nothing' case,'' Bennett said in a telephone interview in Washington yesterday. ``The scandal has been created'' by people who oppose Wolfowitz, he said.
