The so-called "conservative" talk show hosts and columnists, as well as the rabid types around here, have SO turned me off over the past two or three years, that I'm repulsed by the very word "conservative" these days.
I know that's heresey to say on a forum like FR, but there it is anyway.
Amen, Wolf! I don't call myself a Conservative anymore. If pinned down, I'll say "Republican", because all that does is eliminate being a foaming-at-the-mouth Liberal. Do you have a preferred term?

I feel the exact same way! . . . Just as the Goddess-loving/man-hating radicals made it impossible for me to describe myself as a ‘feminist’, the (historical) revisionistic/self-anointed purists, I have made it impossible for me to describe myself as a ‘conservative’ . . . From this point forward, count me as a proud ‘Bush Republican’!
I’m still a proud conservative, although there are more than a few people in the movement right now (media, activists and Freepers) to whom I’d like to say, “Look. You say you’re looking for the next Ronald Reagan. Would it kill you while you’re looking for the next one to act and speak and write a little more like the original one?”
I'm so very thankful to you, Wolfstar, for posting the Dose tonight....a blessed place.
