Huh? But that's what defeat means - preventing your enemy from being a threat. After WWII, fascism wasn't a threat anymore; therefore, we defeated it. By your definition of "defeat" we never have, and never will, defeat *anything*, because there will always exist some remnant adherents.
I don't get what's difficult to understand about Bush. He originally articulated the War on Terror policy - that we would destroy any state that sponsors terrorism. We haven't *followed through* on that promise, but I support the policy. What's confusing about this?
