BTW, I didn’t respond to you at the time although I read your response.
I wanted to say that on item 3, regarding the Va Tech shooting and a tuesday comment, I agree with your response, it was a stupid idea of mine.
In fact, on Tuesday I was writing an opinion column blasting politicians for using the shooting for their own political purposes, so it was bizarre that a few days later I was criticizing Hunter for not doing what I had attacked other people for doing.
Thanks for reminding me of the importance of character above self-promotion.
Posts like that get a lot of respect from me, Sir. However, there are moments when one must step forward and speak out regardless of possible or inevitable friendly or unfriendly fire.
God give us men. The time demands
Strong minds, great hearts, true faith, and willing hands;
Men whom the lust of office does not kill;
Men whom the spoils of office cannot buy;
Men who possess opinions and a will;
Men who have honor; men who will not lie;
Men who can stand before a demagogue
And dam his treacherous flatteries without winking;
Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog
In public duty and in private thinking.
— Josiah Gilbert Holland. 1819-1881

***That’s why I like Hunter. He would make a great president. But getting the candidacy moving is proving more challenging than I first thought. How do you self-promote when you’re not a self-promoter?
