Ban himself? Hardly.
As to banning quidnunc, or anyone else, I would like to know why, but that didn't prompt my question. JR owes no explanation, although I think it would help his site.

I think he is saying, and I agree with my interpretation, that the rule about not posting profane personal attacks on others is a good one, one that deserves to be reinforced, even if the founder finds himself breaking it from time to time (as many people do).
It may make people feel good to hurl an invective at someone, but the important thing was the banning, not the comment (which quidnunc may not have seen, being banned and all).
I doubt he’s calling for a banning.
