How I wish I had your green thumb. I have one plant outside that is gorgeous that a friend gave to me. You cannot kill it, she promised me. And she was right, you don't have to take it in during the winter or anything. I leave it hanging out all year long and it always comes back in the spring and summer.

I have a ton of acreage and would love to plant more stuff but I am terrified of snakes which keeps me from starting a garden, etc....something I would love to do.

I quit doing hummingbird feeders last year. I promise I would have 20 or so hummingbirds a year. I was constantly filling the feeders....it just got to be too much with school and taking care of my grandma. But I plan to start doing that again after I get out of school.

I heard you mention in one of your posts that you guys are looking to move down South. I hope you do....just a suggestion....Oklahoma is a great place....:)LOL

Also, you are still in my prayers, along with your family.

For easier birds, you could put up a regular tube feeder and use the black oil sunflower seeds. We have gold finches by the dozen, not to mention many other varieties. They love the stuff. So do squirrels, but some peanuts tossed around usually takes care of the raiding problem. So would a shotgun.

I don’t do so well with potted plants. But if I plant it in the yard, it grows. I transplanted a weed I found growing up the side of the house. It’s now a beautiful shade tree in the front yard. I don’t know what it is. I call it the lady bug tree, because they gather in its bark in late Fall. Sometimes they completely cover the trunk.

I only feed the wildlife during bad weather, when it’s difficult for them to find food. We have enough fruit and nuts to keep them happy the rest of the time. I don’t mind them eating the blackberries, plums, walnuts, blueberries, etc. That’s what I have them for. I can buy better ones for us from the farmer down the road. And I grow enough stuff, they usually leave some for us.

Thank you for the prayers. They’ve been very helpful.
