I wouldn’t be proud of any statement from Cromwell, the sadist monster who attempted to wipe the Irish people off the face of the earth... and nearly succeeded.
I wouldn’t get too excited, if I were you, by the source of any particular quote. Wise words often come from men who have at times fallen into foolishness.
Cromwell did bad things...but even a stopped clock has good information sometimes...
Sometimes we quote stuff not because of who said it, but because the quote says stuff that is interesting/neat/cool. Attributing the source is not necessarily an endorsement of the person - it’s saying, “Hey, I didn’t write this, and I’m not a plagarist.”
