The establishment of Civil and Religious Liberty was the Motive which induced me to the Field — the object is attained — and it now remains to be my earnest wish & prayer, that the Citizens of the United States could make a wise and virtuous use of the blessings placed before them.—George Washington

"Indignation boils my blood at the thought of the heritage we are throwing away; at the thought that, with few exceptions, the fight for freedom is left to the poor, forlorn and defenseless, and to the few radicals and revolutionaries who would make use of liberty to destroy, rather than to maintain, American institutions. - Arthur Garfield Hays.

(gasp) (pant) Okay, I give up!!! I was trying to read the entire thread, but since I started two whole days late, I just keep falling farther behind! However, I do think I've read enough of it (1-3400 and approx 7000-11000) to understand clearly what's gone on here.
It's my perception that FReepers who've been banned brought it on themselves. I applaud JimRob's decision to move the forum back to its original purpose. I love this place, but I come here to learn more about and discuss the application of conservative principles to the issues, not to argue with liberals who disagree with those principles.
This purge is bloody and painful to many, but I think it's a good idea in the long run.
