What I meant was that so many years in here, you get to 'KNOW' people.
Knock wood...I never was on the receiving end of one of Howlin's 'dressing downs'. But whenever I read the beatings she was handing out...I was usually in agreement with her.
As I said before, she didn't suffer fools gladly.
Don't forget, this forum is not solely politics. Her presence on the forum was a big plus, IMO and will be missed.
Posters who become unruly deserve to be handed a good rhetorical lashing. I've been known to hand out a few myself from time to time. But Howlin didn't stop there. She took it to the next level. When it came to politics she rarely stuck to the issues and preferred the personal attack to honest debate. Nevertheless, you just summed up your relationship with her nicely. Two peas in a pod. Well, shes gone now and she only has herself to blame.
What Howlin did most of the time was to set out to destroy anyone who dared disagree with her centrist-pragmatic form of politics. She didn't like conservatives or conservatism, and she expressed that up until her last week on FR. That recent post to EternalVigilance about said it all.
"The transformation of the GOP into Democrat Party Lite? It’s not going to be DNC Lite; it’s going to be a more moderate conservative party though; you all have had your foot on our necks for too long. This country has to be governed in the middle; the world has moved on from the 50’s. The Contract with America will unite this party again. But we’re not going to let you make abortion and guns the big issues this time around."

I miss her like I miss a bad case of intestinal gas.
I’ve been here since 2002 and every time I had any interaction with her she was rude to the max and scorned social conservative values; either directly with me or with others.
She wasn’t and isn’t conservative.
I miss her too, like I miss a bad tooth ache.
