LOL! Let the record show what a troll and a liar you are.
Of course, it doesn't.
Pro-life and pro-family policies translate into smaller government. Healthy, confident families tend to rear healthy, confident, law-abiding children. Discipline and prudence is inculcated at the family level thus relieving government of many burdens and external costs. Wise governments follow policies that recognize and build on this truth.
Nations that slaughter their unborn and that adopt policies that weaken the traditional family tend to have much larger and more intrusive governments to counter or neutralize the forces of dependence and lawlessness that such policies loose on society.
Anti-family lawlessness is the lesson of our liberal infested inner cities; anti-family nanny-state dependence is the lesson of the mega-government socialist governments of Europe.
These are lessons lost on fiscal conservatives who foolishly believe that smaller government can be had on the cheap--without regard to the social conservative needs of families.
Some of these are based on religious principles ("sodomy" for instance); some are not. The most basic laws are simply what is needed to run a civilized society and were in the earliest attested law codes. And then there is the question of ethics, which can and does stand apart from religious principles. Our basic standards for ethical behavior and for the concepts of our government stem from classical (read: pre-Christian) philosophers. For instance, Plato's "Crito" is one of the most concise, and moving, explanations of the concept of the rule of law that you will ever find.
You dont like these laws?
Some I don't like. I do not care for government intrusion into the private lives of consenting adults based on the religious beliefs of a subset of Americans. It bothers me not at all that two guys down the street might be having buttsex, as long as I don't have to watch them do it.
I don’t know what is so complicated about tearing him down at this forum in the routine course of things. It could be done.
It had to be right this damn minute. Preferably a couple of weeks or months ago, I guess.
Case closed.
I understand you’re willing to accept the damage from that. I just don’t know what to think about it. Some people are giving high fives, others are wondering what the heck is going on.
If it is so obvious that Rudy is opposed to everything this forum stands for, wouldn’t that come out over the upcoming weeks?
Wouldn’t the vast majority of our posters come to that conclusion after seeing the facts?
Heck, the majority of Freepers here seem to support a couple of candidates who aren’t even in the race. I’m one of them.
I probably won’t support Rudy in the primary, but it really depends on who my choices are. I won’t know that for months. Why this crisis has been forced on FR in April is something I can’t understand.
Who are you for? Can we get a positive direction here?
Or is this forum going to be negative for the next year and a half? It’s a serious question.
Than how can you believe in small government yet you want the government banning medical procedures..... Isn’t that Big government???
I love your tagline!
Interesting metaphor.
For as long as I can remember (nigh on to forty years) I've never thought of myself as anything but conservative. Indeed, I find most "conservative" politicians not nearly enough so for my taste.
I've been a strong supporter of limited government, the Second (and the Ninth and Tenth) Amendments, tax cuts, private education, and an aggressive war against Islamofascism .
I would hate to think that I must hie myself off to DU or Daily Kos because for those same four decades I've never accepted the concept of the supernatural.
So well said! : )
No it doesn’t....... When you have the fed gov pass pro life laws, that is increasing the size of the Fed Gov...
btw .. did the founders of the organization find out what happen to all the donations sent to them yet?
Excellent post.
Look beyond your own nose for a change.
Here’s the record. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1821435/posts?page=15428#15428 . It shows the truth.
If you’re trying to earn your “street rep” for your buddies, you’ll have to do better. Maybe somebody could lend you a copy of some old CP posts that you could use as a guide.
Hey, butthead, pull up the posts proving you didn't support the attacks on 9/11.
See how it feels to be sent on a research mission. If you can't prove it, then you're guilty.
Just shut up. This thread is not about Terri.
I appreciate you response.
About President, I think you strike the correct balance. We support and respect our President. At the same, this is an election year and its our job as citizens to discuss and decide what policies we want continued and where we see problems we want corrected. To do less would be to fail our country.
You’re right to keep this in perspective, seriousness-wise. But still, I wish there weren’t so many people I like and respect feeling stress.
As for Guiliani - I’m still a bit shell shocked to seem him being anointed before the primaries start. IMO, he is clearly unsuitable but even for the people who support him, I don’t understand how they can expect conservatives to just give up on getting a conservative candidate before even Iowa. That’s nuts.
“If it is so obvious that Rudy is opposed to everything this forum stands for, wouldnt that come out over the upcoming weeks?”
It had already come out weeks ago.
Rudy is a liberal. He is :
Pro abortion
Gun grabber/sued gun manufacturing co(ludicrous premise)
Pro homo
Pro open borders.
He is anathema to any person even REMOTELY
CONSERVATIVE.
You mean this "medical procedure"?
