I don’t trust projecting my hopes onto anybody.

No. What I do outside of this forum is none of your damn business, and I don't account to, nor do I answer to you. Your demands to 'know' what I (or others) do to advance the cause of conservatism are quite frankly tacky, as tacky as other posters who make demands to 'know' whether or not other Freepers financially contribute to FR.

Just because you don't see a profile page that trumpets 'outside-FR' activities doesn't mean that the Freeper in question (be it me or anybody else) is doing nothing.

You assigned that 'Minister of Conservative Purity' label on me as a sneer and an insult, but I'm loving it instead of being annoyed by it. But your demands to 'know' what others do to promote conservatism and/or FR suggest that YOU have appointed *yourself* as the 'Mistress of Verified Conservative Activism', and unfortunately for you, there isn't anything very funny about hectoring Freepers as to what they 'do' for the cause.

Surely as you proudly wear the title Minister of Conservative Purity™, you must have attended FReeper events, CPAC, or perhaps even the Gathering of Eagles, March for Justice, etc. , over the years. Please, we would love for you to share your conservative activism stories.

Jim. I'm just thinking that it's a bit premature given we haven't had a single Republican candidate debate yet. Perhaps you've fully assessed all the candidates and have selected one, but I haven't.

Newt is my favorite, but I'm not sure he'll run. Thompson looks like he's running, but maybe not.

Rudy is the GOP frontrunner, and I'd like to know why. Sure, I know the general reasons about "America's Mayor", blah blah blah, but I don't see the point of utterly dismissing him here and chilling the debate. For Pete's sake, it's not an emergency. Nobody is even voting this year.

We've never been unable to collectively, as a forum, get to the truth about anything or anyone. We shine the light on everyone, hopefully in a civil manner, and all make more informed decisions as a result. A few of my friend are no longer here, primarily because they got on the wrong side of what could have been a healthy deabte.

Maybe they were wrong. Maybe they didn't handle it well. But maybe they could have been persuaded by the collective intelligence this forum has always demonstrated in the past.

The glee in stifling dissent and the herding of long time members to the bugzapper is unprecedented at FR.

I pray that this forum calms down and that sanity returns. No votes will be cast for a very long time. That gives us plenty of time to make a case for or against any candidate.

I am committed to making this forum survive and flourish. I don't think that job got any easier in the past couple of weeks. It's been ugly, and it didn't need to happen in April 2007.
