Dismissed U.S. attorney began Renzi probe

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., April 21 (UPI) -- A federal investigation into an Arizona congressman could put more pressure on the Bush administration in the flap over dismissed U.S. attorneys.

Paul Charlton, who began the investigation into Republican Rep. Rick Renzi, was one of the eight federal prosecutors fired, The Wall Street Journal reported.

My congressman, John Doolittle CA 4th district, had his Washington D. C. home raided by the FBI. Something about his wife’s business. He supposedly had ties to Abramhoff (sp?) .

Firing a U.S. Attorney does not make the case go away. The U.S. Attorney is the person in charge, the government employee lackys who do the work are still in place. It is still the case that they can be fired for ANY reason including political.

No, there's nothing there at all ~ that the Democrats would like to have raised.

Some of these guys were soft on illegal alien prosecutions, and a couple of them probably didn't care to investigate Congress-critters they've come to know.

Still, none of that is an excuse for the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy defending Gonzales. He got the job for no other reasons than that he's a friend of "W" and he's a Mexican-American. If he'd been just a friend, or a Mexican, he'd not gotten the job.

There's really no downside to letting Gonzales go other than the political fight that will occur selecting a replacement. If we'd let Joe Lieberman make the final choice among three Republicans, and then made him chairman of a couple of committees, he might caucus with the Republicans and deprive the Democrats of their opportunity to catterwal and lie.

you seem blind to the point in post 18 and 22.

your supposition support the commander in chief in time of war, and ignore the corruption doesn’t wash with me.

and also there is a VAST difference in a resolution of force and a declaration of war.

if your suggesting that the ‘war on terror’ or ‘war on ambiguity’ is your reasoning to suggest that the serendipity of the circumstances surrounding gonzales are not an issue, or that the democrats do not have a real issue that they are pursuing in regard to this investigation that will affect moderate votes in 08, which are needed to win in states like last election in VA, then you are genuinely delusional.

I guess if you are from UTAH or some other state, pimping the idea that there is nothing to see here, that there is no problem, and that the GOP should stonewall this issue up until the eve of the 2008 election, well I dislike that assertion in a state where minor swings in votes matter.

So here is my response to you, go stick your head in a hold like an ostrich and imagine that none of this matters.

And after the election when the GOP loses more seats make some ridiculous statements unconnected to reality as to why that is the facts.

And finally there are not DNC and GOP facts, there are DNC and GOP interpretation of facts, and the serendipity of two congrssman being hauled in with a day or so of gonzales testimony which wasn’t stellar indicates trouble ahead.

what part of reality do you really have a problem with?

and screw you and the other posters whom isinuated that I oughta think along your lines of thought, that we shouldn’t discusss what seems to be a real issue, or that thiis ‘breaking news’ concerning to GOP reps shouldn’t be discussed.

Corruption in close vote states matter, and really, trust me..; really we don’t havve any interest in carrying the water for these idiots just because they have an R behind their name, we have real issues and real elections to deal with and are not going to acheive that by sticking our heads in the ground and pretending that these facts aren’t going to be relevant.

real simple, the day after the election the faith and confidence in Rumsfeld was GONE!

obstinance and politcal stonewalling mattered

while i rest assured of the freerepublic vote the image to the people that count, the votes that count, are not served by obstinance and denial of carrying the water of the ridicluous.

this does matter

You need to learn to write in a more concise, focused, effective, and truthful way. What you wrote is absolutely gibberish, lies, distortions, and you were jumping all over the place.

Troll alert...IBTZ.

jveritas: I think we're alike. If someone's going to post, the least they could do is put it forth properly.

If InsNerd would take the time, he'd see that FReepers are tougher on the Pubbies who aren't ethical, as opposed to Democrats who continue to back to the hilt those on the left who clearly did wrong (Jefferson in LA).
