Clinton says husband would be ambassador

By MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer1 hour, 8 minutes ago

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday that if she is elected president, she would make her husband a roaming ambassador to the world, using his skills to repair the nation's tattered image abroad.

"I can't think of a better cheerleader for America than Bill Clinton, can you?" the Democratic senator from New York asked a crowd jammed into a junior high school gymnasium. "He has said he would do anything I asked him to do. I would put him to work."

Clinton spoke at a town hall-style meeting Saturday where she took questions from about 200 people. When asked what role the former president would play in her administration, she left no doubt it would be an important one.

"I'm very lucky that my husband has been so experienced in all of these areas," said Clinton, who pointed to the diplomatic assignments her husband has carried out since leaving office, such as raising money for tsunami victims.

Although former president Clinton was impeached after an affair with a White House intern, he remains a very popular figure in much of the world and is considered an effective diplomat.

That's precisely what America needs in the wake of a war in Iraq that's left America isolated and hated throughout much of the world, Hillary Clinton said.

"I believe in using former presidents, particularly what my husband has done, to really get people around the world feeling better about our country," she said. "We're going to need that. Right now they're rooting against us and they need to root for us."

What underlying crime was Ken Starr questioning Clinton about when he lied?

Didn't the perjury take place in his deposition submitted in the Paula Jones case, long before Starr ever questioned him? I believe it did.

Your post kind of proves Old Sarge's point that the media shills revise history to suit their needs. The article may as well have stated that Clinton was impeached "after the OKC bombing" or "after the Branch Davidians perished in Waco" since each of those events have about as much bearing on the actual reason for impeachment as his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Like it or not, Clinton perjured himself. That's his own fault, not the fault of Ken Starr or Republicans in Congress. If he'd just answered truthfully (a concept that seems to be lost on politicians across the board)or just taken the Fifth when questioned about his relationship with "that woman, Ms. Lewinsky," he'd have had suffered some temporary embarrassment but not much else. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a calculated attempt to force Republicans to have to deal with impeachment, which the GOP base would demand but was bound to be politically unpopular.

ROTFLOL

Yeah it’s TOO funny.

Hillary would be President and Bill would be Ambassador of Cigars or Victoria’s Secret. Tee Hee. Ho HO

How about Secretary General of the UN?

How about Bill hijacks the UN and Hillary gets rid of the legislature and judiciary of the US government?

Sorry, I don’t find the end of the world very funny

the clinton doctrine:
the rest of the world first
america second”

One little correction:
The Clinton Doctrine:
The Clintons first
the rest of the world second
america third

I definitely stand corrected.

Cracks me up..."Do anything"???? Hmmmm, He didn't listen to her before did he? He did exactly what HE wanted. Wonder why she can trust him to keep his word and do anything for her if he could not (even) honor his marriage vows? Or keep his promises about not roaming with other women, after he was "exposed" for his activities and promised never to stray again. That is the only roaming he is good for. If that is an asset!

Hilliary would be giving him "Carte blanche," to enjoy his lusts in all the capital offices of the world, just like he did in the White House!
