"...“Mark Corallo, a spokesman for the former senator, said Daniel Thompson is paid to manage the fund-raising operation and file campaign-finance reports with the FEC. ‘If you look at other PACs, such as Hillary Clinton, John Edwards or Barack Obama, all three of them pay their PAC administrators more than double what Dan was taking to administrate the PAC,’ Mr. Corallo said.”

Yes that is true, but the Thompson PAC had virtually no money in. Half the money was given to his son to write checks and fill out forms.

Also, don't forget Hillary has a campaign staff not a manager. She is also an active Senator and a Presidential candidate.

All that said, I still think it atrocious that former politicians pass out money given to them to run for office to their relatives, past and present cronies or anything else they desire. They do not declare this money as income on their tax returns and are accountable to no one for how they disperse the funds. Spin it as you will, this is not what people who leave office should be doing.

Finally, it makes no difference what others are doing--I am sure you are right--many are doing the same thing; however, this does not make it right.

I am certain the person receiving the money for consulting is paying taxes on it. And I’m certain the people who gave the money to the PAC paid taxes on it, since PAC donations are not tax-deductable.

Why do you think a candidate should have to pay any taxes on money that is collected from some people AFTER-TAX, and then given to others who PAY TAXES on it’s receipt?
