“One of the Iraq Vets against the War was caught on video while protesting at a soldiers funeral. He told the media that the parents were unable to handle the fact their son died for a lie. I posted about it on my blog and have gotten craploads from the IVAW members saying this was simply an upset vet. I say its the norm and a true expression of their feelings. Same thing goes for Code Pink.”
I agree. These organizations that don’t own the crazies in their crowd are liars. But then what do we expect? Join Patriot Guard to stop people like this from disrespecting those that grieve. You don’t have to have a bike. My friend and I ride in his very patriotic van.
“Gail uses love and peace as something to hide behind. She elevates herself above everyone in her twisted mind using these words. Her actions speak volumes as her simple love and peace defends all her socialist actions.”
All true, which is why she and her fellow Lefties are dangerous. By acting out in anger, we play right into their hands. It is the action that they are wanting to portray us as, regardless of the motivation. “See. We are the peace people, and the nasty right wingers called us names and yelled at us. They threatened us.” It is why we must maintain control, express positiveness, be civil, etc while giving the facts. Smiling and laughter really gets to them too. Then you can go somewhere and scream, but not never in front of the cameras. And if they encroach on your territory, politely ask them to leave, as you respect their freedom of speech, they should respect yours. If you have a permit, then let them know.
As a veteran activist with over four years of weekly rallies, I have found that we need to think about our positions. Really think about the ideas, and the wording. It’s also, helpful if we try to stay above the fray. In other words, stay in control, don’t sink to their level. They are trying to get us to go there with the passive agressive tactic. Additionally, remember that their agenda is to make us look bad, and themselves good. Hindsight is great! Practice is better. You might even have a few sessions with each other. Get together on a Saturday or Sunday and role play. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your service with the patriot guard riders. The Patriot Guard actually kept the anti-war protesters, including the IVAW loser, away from Cpl Swanson’s family at the gravesite. They are quite an impressive group from all that I’ve read about them.
Thanks for the advice. I’ll follow my instincts, and deal with my encounters with the Moonbats on a case-by-case basis. Some dogs you can ignore, and some dogs have to hit with a sledgehammer.
I respect you all for the devotion that is displayed week after week. It isn’t easy, as I well know, since I’ve been out there for four years now. However, I’m sorry, but I have to agree with secretagent. Losing one’s temper, harsh rhetoric, and name calling of this sort, however valid, is counter productive. I learned this the hard way.
Name calling and constant interrupting
*It doesn’t mean that you are surrendering.
*It discounts the Left by showing that we are not as they
portray us.
*When you express your facts in a polite manner the Left
can’t call it wimpy or ineffective. People can’t hear
facts if they are being yelled at. Think of the Preacher
on the street corner.
The Manners Battle
“The left often employs the strategy of being deliberately insulting and infuriating while presenting a facade of calm good humor. The unwary may be deceived, but theres nothing mannerly about it.”
*You are right! They do! But is a very effective tactic to make us look bad! Don’t fall for it!
“It is long past time for decent people to realize that, when dealing with leftists, civility is just a self-imposed handicap.”
*Civility is never a handicap! Take a page from the great
role models like Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Vice
President Cheney, President Bush, Condeleeza Rice, John
Bolton.
*Don’t sink to their level.
We are ambassadors for our movement. We are there for the troops. And we are there for our country. Do you think we will get more recruits while screaming, than we would if we are laughing and having a good time? Think the “preacher on the street corner” versus Reagan.
God bless! Keep up the great work! AND don’t let the ba@#ards get you down!
Ping, we are in this together brother.
There are more ways to scare Pinko than incivil tactics. There were two young ladies who came across from the Moonbat Brigade two weeks ago. They were late HS or freshman college. Anyway, I polietly asked why they were coming over to try to take our corner. I pointed out both sides respect our right to be out here, and that we stay apart...that and the restraining order against them. (They don’t know that it had expired.) I engaged her in a discussion of what she believed, and pointed out the flaws with facts. This so unnerved her that they they fled back to the safety of Moonbatia territory. Playing nice does work. And it is fun too.!
When they call our troops terrorists in front of Walter Reed, “Get the f*ch out” is civil as you can be.
“Thanks for the advice. Ill follow my instincts, and deal with my encounters with the Moonbats on a case-by-case basis. Some dogs you can ignore, and some dogs have to hit with a sledgehammer.”
Okay. It is a case-by-case basis, but still about thinking before speaking. Four years and I’m still practicing. I’m not saying you can’t yell at them, just do it with a smile! But it is better not to waste a good sledgehammer on some dogs. I love VP Cheney for that reason. He knows how to get ‘em without losing it!
Keep up the great work! You folks are the best! BTW, the telescoping flag poles are great! We got ours from “Flagpoles to Go”.
They do the same thing out here. They also, call the President a dictator. But we laugh at ‘em and point out the stupidity of their statements. Our moonbats have a sign that says, “War is Terror”. So then I ask them if they think our guys are terrorists. A few say “yes”, and the others are embarrassed/confused because they don’t really believe that the guys are terrorists. Hey after four years, I’ve seen just about all they can pitch. But one night I realized that I what I looked like when I yell at them. So now I try to do it with a smile &/or laugh. I try not to sink to their level.
Keep up the great work! Take care! You are inspirational!
“Thank you for your service with the patriot guard riders. The Patriot Guard actually kept the anti-war protesters, including the IVAW loser, away from Cpl Swansons family at the gravesite. They are quite an impressive group from all that Ive read about them.”
Thank you. The Patriot Guard is impressive. I’ve only been on one detail (thankfully), but it was one of the most moving things I’ve ever been a part of. The convoy of riders streched for over a half mile. I think my friend said there were 60 or 80 bikes and 5 vehicles out there to support LTJG Laura Mankey who was killed when the chopper she was piloting crashed during a training exercise off the coast of California, south of here. Hope you get involved! Great bunch of folks!
“Losing ones temper, harsh rhetoric, and name calling of this sort, however valid, is counter productive.”
Harsh rhetoric and calling a scumbag a scumbag do not necessarily mean that one has lost one’s temper. I do it in cold blood.
“It discounts the Left by showing that we are not as they
portray us.”
Showing whom? These are not people that can be reasoned with.
“When you express your facts in a polite manner the Left
cant call it wimpy or ineffective.”
They can and do.
“People cant hear facts if they are being yelled at. Think of the Preacher on the street corner.”
Leftists can’t hear facts at all. If they could, they wouldn’t be leftists. The salvation of our republic does not lie in persuading leftists to eschew evil. It lies in emulating Samuel Adams, not John Adams.
“Civility is never a handicap!”
It most certainly is. According a person civility is a tacit admission that he deserves it. Further, one cannot even approach an accurate description of the evil that is leftism without crossing the boundaries of civility.
How do you assert with civility that an individual is a scumbag traitor deserving of execution? How do you assert with civility that an individual is a murderer whose hands run with rivers of blood?
And yet these truths must be asserted.
“Dont sink to their level.”
Telling unpleasant truths about vile creatures does not run that risk.
“We are ambassadors for our movement.”
Ambassador is a lofty position. What we need are more grunts.
“Do you think we will get more recruits while screaming, than we would if we are laughing and having a good time?”
I don’t recall having advocated “screaming.” However, chanting can be an effective method of demonstrating. Further, the problem with laughing and having a good time is that it fails to convey the seriousness of the culture war.
We may be facing these people across barricades one day, and there won’t be a lot of skylarking on that day.
Kristinn, you’re a better man than I am a woman. I think I might have lost it.
I could then add being arrested to my list of experiences.
these people really just want it to be perpetually 1968...any day now will be baby killer..
i truly wish some of these would try and meet the millions of boat people from vietnam, to truly see the ‘paradise’ they left behind in vietnam the last time they pulled the chicken switch...
I tried to have a conversation with an Evergreener at a counter rally once. It was like conversing with air.
At another rally, the first punch was struck by one of these pathetic idiots, not by us.
They disgust me beyond words, so I am occasionally speechless.
Have you ever confronted these people in person?
