I don’t doubt that Basinger has got some issues too, and the kid is probably being messed up by both of them in different ways. But making Basinger the bad guy here is *his* narcissistic defense mechanism. “She drove me to it” is the excuse of a weak mind.
The damage was done when his daughter heard the message. I cannot imagine the pain that would be in my heart if my dad or mom had ever talked to me like that. That poor girl will have to live with this and probably other painful memories for the rest of her life.
