Newsflash - they’re both wrapped up in themselves. That’s why daddy left the message and that’s why mommy plastered it all over the media. It’s not about Ireland, it’s all about ego and control. Alec has anger issues, immaturity and poor judgment (among other things). Kim is by no means blameless either, although that’s how she’s trying to play the scene. IMHO, Kim has shown herself to be manipulative, narcissistic and does not have the child’s best interests at heart. This war is between the two protaganists, Alec and Kim, and Ireland is just the measuring stick of who's "winning".

I would feel completely differently about this if his rant had been addressed to Basinger. But it wasn't. He did this to himself...and it is no one’s fault but his own. He embarrassed himself.
