If it’s true that a belief in God is the defining characteristic of Conservatism, and I not saying it’s not, don’t get me wrong, then, why in a the U.S., our country where around 85% to 95% of everyone believes in both Heaven and God, then, why is it our national elections are so nearly, evenly, split between the liberal and Conservative sides of the scale, and the “true” Conservatives don’t easily dominate the opposition?

“where around 85% to 95% of everyone believes in both Heaven and God,”

Dunno. Lots of hypocrites and or people kidding themselves or not fully understanding the implications? Or lying to the pollsters?
