Women, Minorities Worry More About Guns

WASHINGTON (AP) --

The Virginia Tech shootings have left more women than men troubled by gun violence and favoring tighter firearms laws, though overall most Americans express little concern they might become a gun crime victim, a new AP-Ipsos poll has found.

Minorities and city residents also showed greater worry about gun crimes and a higher preference for stricter gun controls, according to the survey, taken after Monday's mayhem in which 32 students and teachers plus the gunman died.

Gunman Kills 32, Women and Minorities Hit Hardest ...

And they call for stricter gun control so that they can't defend themselves against the nutjob who's going to get the gun anyway? *#@%&*!

"Women, Minorities Worry More About Guns..."

More than likely because they are the most dependent on someone else to come to the rescue. I understand the city dwellers wanting to see everybody unarmed because most places they are not permitted to defend themselves. I do NOT understand suburban women who are so squeamish about guns when there is probably nothing preventing them from buying a gun and learning to use it to defend themselves. Some feminists! Unable to care for themselves.

I am female.

The only worry I have regarding guns is whether I will get to the guns quickly enough and shoot straight enough.

I just don’t understand this. Most men could easily kill most women (I’m talking average women, not black-belts or Marines) with their bare hands. The ONLY way the victim could defend herself against a man intent on killing her is with a weapon of some sort.

While I appreciate that not all women and minorities fit this mold, this one reason why I would have qualms about voting for a woman for the presidency. Arms are necessary for self defense, individually or collectively. Consequently, if one desires to forego one’s own self defense, how can this person be expected to support collective self defense. It is no coincidence that Democrats are anti-gun and weak on our nation’s security. Under recent Democrat administrations our national defense was allowed weaken while gun control increased.

The press sure makes it easy for the folks over at Scrappleface don't they? All you have to do is change the name of the crisis du jour and recycle the story.

If women really wanted to "empower" themselves, instead of endless and fruitless talk, they would immediately go out and buy a good quality pistol, take lessons, and get a CCW permit.

There is nothing as empowering as packing heat!
