BOSTON -- Setting the stage for a new fight over the rights of illegal immigrants in Massachusetts, the state Board of Higher Education looked at whether illegal immigrant students should be entitled to in-state tuition rates if they go to a state university.

NewsCenter 5's Amalia Barreda reported that the Massachusetts Taxpayers Association said between 400 and 600 illegal immigrants would go on to higher learning if the Legislature approved a bill making them eligible for in-state tuition at state schools.

The issue was on the agenda at Thursday morning's meeting of the Board of Higher Education, which has supported the idea in the past. There was little discussion and no debate. The board chairman explained that the intent was to clarify misunderstandings about the proposed legislation.

It's incredible that this would even be considered. Does the word "illegal" mean anything?

Agreed. The fact that this is even a subject for discussion, much less serious consideration, is very disturbing. Very Orwellian.

Why not just give everyone the same tuition rate?

illegal immigrant students should be entitled to a prompt deportation .....sans photos, fingerprints and DNA to identify them second time around prior to lengthy incarceration.

Since Universities are very good at keeping records, FOREVER; let them collect the higher “Nonresident Tuition”. Then, they can refund the overcharge when a Student or Alum achieves Citizenship.

If an Institution has the “Donor Base”, it could let those Donors cover the DIFFERENCE & bill for the lower rate. The “Donor Base” would recieve any Refunds when a former student attains Citizenship.

What a disgrace that this cesspool of Liberals was ever part of the original 13 colonies. If I lived in Massachusetts, I would feel disgraced by such a bunch of lunatics.

Why is this even up for discussion? Deport each and every one of them back to Mexico or wherever they snuck in from!! When they hold their huge “demonstrations” in major cities, have buses and trucks on standby to take them to detention centers, for adjudication and deportation, pronto!!

“Gov. Deval Patrick supports the idea”

Enough said.

“I mean, we’re all part of the same society over here”

Society by proxy?
