All the news guys should be fired that ran the video.
You said — “Show it all or show none at all...but I, personally, think it shouldnt be shown.”
Well, I say show it all — uncensored — and let everyone be aware, so we don’t let the next “Cho” pass by us without doing something about it.

Exactly right
Peeping Tom society.
ABC, CBS, CNN and FNC would have broadcast the DVD if it had ended up in their hands.
So true - and the next loser out there is seeing the extent of "immortality" the media will grant them provided they do something horrific enough to attract the spotlight. This guy even referred to the Columbine boys.
My thinking is that the first murder had special meaning to him, the second was out of necessity (the RA got in his way) and the next 30 were to make sure he would get the media's attention.
How quickly we forget....
Remember all the post-Columbine copycat school shootings? The media finally decided that they were playing a part in immortalizing the killers, enticing other like-minded (like-mindless?) miscreants to follow suit.
Agreed.
You said — “Peeping Tom society.”
This is not looking through the bedroom window at someone having sex.
This is making the public aware of the nature and seriousness of this guy’s mental problems — to the extent that they become fully informed. Enough so — so that the next time a “Cho” comes along, people will act *forcefully* because they recognize what they saw from this guy, Cho, because of being fully exposed to his twisted thinking and evil mind. It protects society by making them fully aware.

“Or perhaps I should phrase the question differently, why were all the male students in those classes so sheepishly waiting to be shot dead rather then taking action to save some lives if not their own?”
first, no one knows what happened in those classrooms and no one knows how many died as a result of trying to get to the gunman. At least two men died giving others a chance to live when the gunman entered their specific rooms.
second, the gunman was able, by eyewitness accounts, to change clips in under 2 seconds. considering the gunman shot people in the front rows, by eyewitness accounts, and considering the amount of desks, books, bodies and other stuff in the way, the chances of someone actually being able to get to him from the rear of the room are remote.
third, HAD the students KNOWN he was going to enter their room and were prepared, I could see your point, but at the risk of being flamed, if you don’t know where he is or where he’s going, the first reaction is to get away.
The best option was to have people there who were armed and willing to confront this monster, but they aren’t allowed by law. this killer had a “kill-free zone” in which to work. he picked his building and his targets very carefully to inflict maximum damage.
Putting aside the sensitivites of the families, etc., I think there are nuts all over the country watching the clips on every network (and yes, I think he could have mailed it to Fox or any of the networks and gotten it shown) and thinking with a little planning they could easily top his kill rate and be famous (actually infamous, but most people have no concept of the difference since there is no longer any right or wrong, shame, etc.)

How about the guys that show film clips of Hitler?
I have a totally different view of this than most.
I do not for on second believe this is an accurate depiction of this guys character. It was a show. If anyone acted like this in public, he would be locked dup for sure and without question. You will never see someone act like this outside the forum of a video of this nature. He wasn’t insane, he was jsut warped badly. He knew exactly what he was doing.
I feel that the release of the video is however, useful and damaging at the same time. It CAN be both, you know.
This information gave me a face to hate, something to direct my empty feelings toward. I needed it in a strange sorta way in order to help myself move past the feelings I had about the incident and the poor kids who died and were injured at his hand. I don’t consider it of educational value at all for the untrained public like myself.
I do wish that the media would have held it for at least a few weeks... purely out of respect for the families of both the dead and this whacko’s parents... I’m would bet that they are suffering as much as the parents of the victims.
A guy kills 31 people, his actions will most likely usher a whole new assault on the 2nd amendment and we are "peeping toms" to wonder what was going through his mind?

Well, I think this video *was* an accurate depiction of his character. The *false* depiction of his character was how he acted in public. He “muted” his true character, out of the realization that if he showed it *fully* he would be locked up. At least he had that realization.
So, no..., he was showing his true character. He was *hiding it* — in public, to a degree. Although, he wasn’t quite hiding it enough — as his fellow students actually discussed that he would probably be the next “school shooter”.
It turned out that his fellow students were right. He turned out to be the next school shooter...

“How about the guys that show film clips of Hitler?”
Oh I forgot to say scarasm off, but to your statement only when they add that Conservatives in the US are related to Hitler’s movement.
America needs to see just how criminally insane it is, to hate the rich.
Ratings won out in the end.................
