I doubt that happened. I know this is a witness relating the event, but it reminds me of the scene in Carrie after the blood as been dumped on her and she's hallucinating that everyone was laughing at her and hearing her mother's voice in her head, "They're all going to laugh at you, they're all going to laugh at you."
