‘1984’ Mash-Up Creator Parodies Wolfowitz

Phil de Vellis, the creator of the anti-Hillary Rodham Clinton ad that has been seen on YouTube.com more than 3 million times, is coming out with a new video mash-up.

This time de Vellis' target is World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, accused of improperly being involved in a promotion and pay raise for his girlfriend, who was an employee of the bank when Wolfowitz came on board.

The clip, called "The Bank," is a parody of the TV show "The Office," said Ben Wikler, campaign director for Avaaz.org, which is sponsoring the video. The mash-up will be posted on the group's site later today.

Avaaz.org aims to be an international version of the liberal group MoveOn.org.

De Vellis resigned from his company, Blue State Digital, after his anti-Clinton ad came out. Blue State Digital had done work for Clinton rival Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), although de Vellis said he did the “1984” video on his own time, without the company's knowledge.

He is not working full-time for Avaaz.org

I look forward to the video. Have you been to the AVAAZ Web site and looked at their ads they put in print media? http://www.avaaz.org/en/ Their World leaders: Climate action now! ad should be posted on FreeRepublic.

World leaders: Climate action now!

The eight most economically powerful countries in the world - the "G8" - are responsible for over half of the gasses that cause global warming. Yet they still haven't made meaningful commitments to prevent a climate catastrophe.

On March 19th, Avaaz presented 100,000 signatures to the G8 environment ministers - and they made climate change the #1 issue for the summit of their leaders this June. The momentum is on our side. Now, we need to grow the petition massively to ensure that these countries produce real action at the June summit. Add your voice to the call for change!

Petition To World Leaders: Climate change is the greatest threat facing our world today - and we are almost out of time to stop it. You must tackle this problem now, decisively and together. Start working toward a new global agreement this year. Set binding global targets for emissions to avert catastrophic climate change. Take bold action immediately - and we will join our efforts with yours.
