Crude Oil and Total Petroleum Imports Top 15 Countries [to US] (Canada #1)

February 2007 Import Highlights: Released on April 17, 2007

Preliminary monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports in February 2007 has been released and it shows that four countries have each exported more than 1.10 million barrels per day to the United States. Including those countries, a total of five countries exported over 1.00 million barrels per day of crude oil to the United States (see table below). The top five exporting countries accounted for 72 percent of United States crude oil imports in February while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 89 percent of all U.S. crude oil imports...Canada remained the largest exporter of total petroleum in February, exporting 2.386 million barrels per day to the United States, which was a slight decrease from last month (2.470 thousand barrels per day). The second largest exporter of total petroleum was Mexico with 1.507 million barrels per day."

lots of oil in canadian oil sands..they have just began to tap it with better/new equiqment and processes...as long as oil stays rather high in price(>$40/hr) it makes business sense to tap it...

damn Capitalism..people takening risks and discovering more oil just to make a buck...if we would just tax them to death our energy problems would just go away
