IMHO, I don't believe the statement that teachers gave him high grades because they were afraid of him. Instead, they probably considered his writings "art" and "original expression" but now are faced with having to justify their grades. If they gave him high grades because of fear, then they have no business being teachers.
Unfortunately the media is none to credible. Just look at all the spin and lies that have been reported.
“I think it is awful for the media to place blame on the family without any evidence and to insist that they should have realized he was dangerous”
they have to blame somebody and it hurts them to point their fingers at their friends in the world of higher education.
“Privacy” laws prevented the University from contacting Cho’s parents about the state of his mind, or about his erratic behavior, even though they were the ones footing the bill. Maybe they could have helped him before he lost control - but that point is moot now I suppose.
“IMHO, I don’t believe the statement that teachers gave him high grades because they were afraid of him.”
I disagree.
There is absolutely no way the incoherent drivel he produced was “A” material, especially when it was so nightmarish that fellow students and his english professor refused to be around him.
I think they were physically afraid of him, and I think they were afraid of a lawsuit if they attempted to expell him or give him the grades he deserved.
“If they gave him high grades because of fear, then they have no business being teachers.”
agreed.
Let’s see if anyone calls them on it.
“Unfortunately the media is none to credible. Just look at all the spin and lies that have been reported.”
I’m not sure what lies have been reported, although I agree there has been alot of spin.
Everyone is in CYA mode here, but I trust the parents of the dead to see through the BS. They will get to the heart of the matter.
