“But when traditionalists talk the language of decency and morality, the left hears bigotry and theocracy. And when liberals talk about sensitivity and white privilege, the right hears something totalitarian. The result is that the two sides hold separate conversations. And when they do talk to each other, each side is listening for hidden agendas.”
What galls me is when (as in the Imus situtation) libs slam Imus for what he said, but try to justify what rappers say because "they're not directing it at anyone in particular". What a load of bovine manure. As if a conservative could get on the air (or paper) and rant against certain ethnic groups without naming a particular person. Make derogatory comments about Jews, Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, Indians, whatever and as long as a person doesn't name names, well according to libs that's perfectly fine.
But we all know it wouldn't be perfectly fine if said by a conservative. That's why it's almost impossible to have these "dialogues" with libs as long as they refuse to face reality.
