The dumbest thing the GOP did in 2006 was not allowing the investigation to go forward on this guy. Does Hastert, Delay, and Newt really think that Pelosi and co. would do the same thing and stick up for a GOP member of congress that was in the same boat?

If they believe that, they indeed deserved to lose and then some.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I don’t understand why Republicans stood up for Jefferson after his office in Washington was raided. Do they not realize how that looks to the rest of us?

There is a legitimate institutional concern about separation of powers here. At its base, Congress thinks that the executive branch ought not interfere in its affairs. It's kind of the reverse of the current debate about executive privilege. The concern is that the executive will raid Congressional offices for purely political reasons, forcing Congressmen to tow the executive branch's line for fear of a retaliatory raid. I'm not saying that Congress' position is correct (especially where the executive got a search warrant before conducting their search), but that's why the Republican leadership did what they did.

Do you not realize.....that they do not care how it looks?

Where have you been hiding the last 20 years?

No offense intended, just saying......

This case is moving at a snails pace. FOX should do an investigation
on this case just as they did with "Sandy Burglar" and spotlight it.

And since the Dems refuse to eat their own, "while dropping the "Repub party of corruption" solo",
they'll cave like a mud pie.

We need an offensive on this idiot to set precedence in the Congress.

But then I'm just a grunt taxpayer.

"Jefferson will die of old age before he’s brought to justice."

Or -- die atop a nappy headed ho after a crack overdose...

He'll never see a day behind bars......He's a Democrat.
