I don't see where Marcavage was either committed, or found to be a danger to himself, or others due to mental defect in a court of law. Whatever that joke in Philly was, it doesn't appear to be a legal action. That is one of those nut daily stories that has no info. In order to cry foul, the relevant case needs to be presented. The story is void of real facts.

See if the U personnel really did that to Marcavage, they'd never have been able to lose the suit in court. I don't have to know PA law any more than to know the pres. and the other guy committed battery, no criminal charges were filed, by either party ect... I will say that Marcavage was doing very annoying and risky things, on his own, with no friendly witness(s). It's his word against theirs, the atty says the appeal's a sure thing(after the suit was a sure thing).

I admit, I couldn’t make heads or tales of that WND article either. A garbled mishmash.

Still, I’m with Valpal1 that it should not be easy to have someone committed. This is and has been abused in many countries. And it was once abused here.

In this country, it used to be possible for a wily and powerful person to have a spouse wrongly committed in order to get rid of him/her and keep the kids. Parents who had mental problems themselves used to get their teens locked up when they couldn’t deal with them or wanted someone to blame (other than themselves) for having a dysfunctional family. Adult children who couldn’t wait for their inheritance used to have elderly parents committed.

This stuff really happened. I would not want to see it happening again. Would you?
