I would suspect they have spent quite a bit of time with them, looking for answers, background etc...

I heard the parents are currently hospitalized.

They live in South Korea. Apparently the mother colapsed in grief and shame, and has been hospitalised.

According to the dorm-mates, Cho stayed there during holidays and didn’t go home and no one ever visited him there, not even his parents.
