WILLIAMSBURG (AP) -- Officials at the College of William & Mary have settled on a place in a college chapel to display the case that will house the Wren Cross.
A committee appointed to make a recommendation announced Monday that the cross and its case will be placed near the east door at the front of the chapel.
The recommendation was endorsed by college President Gene R. Nichol and Michael Powell, who as college rector heads the Board of Visitors.
The school said that the display case is still under development, adding that it "will be accompanied by a plaque commemorating the college's Anglican roots and its historic connection to Bruton Parish Church."

It always comes down to this.
My alma mater has really scraped the bottom of the barrel to get this liberal weenie for its president.
The donor should hold his $12 million in escrow until the cross is put back on the altar and the president is sacked. He's obviously got the cards in this situation.
Now there’s the sign of a living faith and paying homage to it! Pluck the thing out of public view, stuff, and throw it in a displapy case with a pretty plaque!
Well, not stuff it. But I imagine our Dean would have a slightly different reaction if this is what we were doing with, say, polar bears.
It belongs on the podium, smack dab in the middle.
How disgusting.
“Mr. Nichol ordered the 18-inch cross removed from permanent display on the chapel’s altar last fall, saying students of all faiths should feel comfortable using the chapel.”
What a bunch of pathetic anti-American bullshit.
Not good enough.
Put it back!
Exactly. Donors should withhold the money until the geeky President Gene Nichol is removed from the campus. Once they have donated, who knows what stunts Nichol will pull next. He sure has a thing against the Christian cross, maybe shivers with hatred every time he sees it.
