Are you aware that Rudy Giuliani is taking $500,000 from Hugo Chavez to spread his influence in the Texas state government? And that Hugo has spent $4 billion this year, the highest military external spending in the world, to purchase weapons to point at us? And that today he threw out his first trial balloon about getting nukes, threatening his neighbor Alvaro Uribe of Colombia? Of all the candidates out there, it disgusts me that just one of them is taking filthy lucre from Hugo Chavez. Rudy Giuliani. The guy’s protestations have been lame about it, he’s attacked his critics for pointing this out, and unlike his wonderful treatment of Arafat and Bin Talal, he’s mealy-mouthedly said only that he opposes the policies of Hugo Chavez. Rudy should be vowing to kick Chavez’s keister and he’s not. He’s actually taking money from him! I’ll take Mccain.

He wasn’t lobbying for Chavez, his firm was lobbying for Citgo. That’s a gross exaggeration of the facts. Not to mention that Chavez went off the deep end only recently.

“The firm has had a contract with Citgo since before Giuliani joined it.

What they’re doing is lawful and honorable and helping to protect jobs for more than 100,000 Americans.”

Although Citgo Petroleum is a U.S.-based company, it was bought in 1990 by Petroleos de Venezuela, the national oil company of Venezuela. It employs 4,000 people in Texas and other states, and Giuliani said indirectly more than 100,000 people have jobs because of the company.”

Do you have a source for this information, please?

"Bracewell & Giuliani, the firm based in Houston that Mr. Giuliani joined as a name partner two years ago, handles lobbying in the Texas capital for the Citgo Petroleum Corporation of Houston."

“Mayor Giuliani believes Hugo Chávez is not a friend of the United States and his influence continues to grow because of our increasing reliance on foreign sources of oil,” the statement said. “As the mayor has consistently stated, the development of alternative fuels is a priority that demands a solution in order."
