"Rudy Giuliani would help the GOP get away from its image as a bunch of nannystating, big-spending, Party of Jesus, can't-win-elections hacks."

No kidding. Guess the GOP under Rudy will become a party of anything goes, cross-dressing, baby killing, gay bar cruising, unarmed atheist winners of elections and all around great guys to hang out with. Good luck with all that.

I can believe there are people who want this very much. I cannot believe there are FReepers (longtime FReepers, no less) who want it even more. But the evidence mounts.

And when the Hillary and Democrats win, who truly ARE "anything goes, cross-dressing, baby killing, gay bar cruising, unarmed atheist winners of elections " how does THAT help conservatism? What say will conservatives will have in anything then? The GOP is already shrinking, while the Dems are gaining.

Fewer pledge allegiance to the GOP A poll says 35% of those surveyed identify with Republicans. Public attitudes seem to be drifting toward Democrats' values.

The survey, by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, found a "dramatic shift" in political party identification since 2002, when Republicans and Democrats were at rough parity. Now, 50% of those surveyed identified with or leaned toward Democrats, whereas 35% aligned with Republicans.

What's more, the survey found, public attitudes are drifting toward Democrats' values: Support for government aid to the disadvantaged has grown since the mid-1990s, skepticism about the use of military force has increased and support for traditional family values has decreased.

Not only is everything you said paranoia...it’s hyperbolic paranoia.

New York City is a better place in the wake of the Giuliani administration. By any measure.
