The problem I have with Ms. Giovanni, and the whole English Dept for that matter, is that they didn’t do what was the obvious thing to do: flunk him out. How you can read his unbelievably bad writing and pass him? It is indefensible. Their misguided idea that everyone belongs in college is exactly what permitted him to remain at VT.

How you can read his unbelievably bad writing and pass him?

Where can I read his academic writing? All I've seen are two plays. The plays are awful, but you don't have to be a playwright to get an English degree.

Apparently the English Department at Virginia Tech is a joke. Not for a moment do I believe the teachers gave him good grades because they were afraid of him. Instead, they more than likely were incompetent and now are trying to cover up their incompetence.
