Well, if you are arguing with a girl that you don’t know and have no association with, have never interacted with before — then you’re a nutball right off the bat.
Look at it again — once more. You don’t get into arguments with girls at their dormitory, going up to see them, have a RA called to quell the dispute — if you’re not *connected* in some fashion to the girl. That part is very obvious.
Okay, don’t get it yet??! Let’s try it this way. Some strange guy comes up to a girl in her dormitory and start talking and arguing with her. She says, “What are you talking about? I don’t know you! Go talk with someone you know. Get lost!”
Then an RA is called because the guy *does not belong there* as he has no association with the girl. He’s told to get lost. The RA is not there to mediate an argument. He’s there to tell the guy to get lost and get out of the building *immediately* because this girl doesn’t know him and doesn’t want anything to do with him.
On the other hand, if they *are* associated with one another, then the girl doesn’t say, “I don’t know you. Get lost!”. She’s then trying to “dialogue” — albeit, it’s turning into a loud argument. THEN, an RA *is* called to “mediate” and doesn’t tell the guy to get lost and get out of the building because you don’t belong here. He tries to calm it down, saying sleep on it, or come back later or meet somewhere tomorrow or whatever it takes to bring it down a few notches.
So, by the *reports* of how the other students saw this and how it was reported — she *was related* to him in some fashion — or he would *never* have had the opportunity to be there in the first place or be engaged in *any* type of conversation with her in her dorm room.
*By circumstance* and how it’s been reported, the girl knew him and was related in some fashion.

P.S. — If this was an unrelated person, to this girl, the students themselves would be the first to say that she didn’t know him and he was a stranger that came out of nowhere and harassed her. You’re not hearing that...
Thanks for your comprehensive explanation. When I posted the question, it had not been announced that the ballistic evidence definitively linked the killings at the two locations on campus. Also, there were no published reports at all that I was aware of that indicated Cho was actually the guy who was harassing her.
