In contrast, a lot of people are scouring the Web for a TROP connection, having to address cross-language spellings, old literary texts, obscure unrelated authors, and presume connections between arguably different words - a lot of work to make a very tenuous connection.
BTW: "Ishmael" in Arabic isn't "Ismail", it's "إسماعيل" (English, Arabic and Hebrew use radically different alphabets, so theories based on spelling differences are misguided).
The sad thing about today's reporters is that they don't have "inquiring minds". They want the fame--first to report--forget accuracy. People who think want to know, "Why did he write 'Ismail Ax' on his arm?" He was obviously disturbed, but he also had brains to plan it all out, and he had a reason.
They should release the three-page letter he left in his dorm between killings, but I have the feeling it will look too much like terrorism...
